Safety & Preparation
Safety is our Priority
Attending an Ayahuasca retreat is a courageous decision to make for anyone at any point in their life. Ayahuasca takes you on a journey deep into your subconscious mind and to do this safely you have to be adequately prepared. It is important to prepare yourself both physically and energetically, so you can safely progress through the retreat and receive the most benefit from your experiences.
How to Prepare
After you have booked your retreat, it is time to start preparing yourself as best you can for your upcoming Ayahuasca ceremonies. The main preparation required is the changing of your diet, but below is a list of other preparations either required or recommended at Jochipapanete:
Stop using any recreational drugs at least 3 weeks before and after your retreat, and the longer the better.
Abstain from any sexual activity, including masterbation, two weeks before and two weeks after your retreat.
We recommend abstaining from cannabis at least 2 weeks before and two weeks after your retreat.
We recommend you explore your ability to trust in the process of life. Ayahuasca retreats can become very challenging at times and will require your ability to trust in the process. The process of spiritual growth and healing is can at times be painful and in the moment of suffering, we will often question whether the pain is worth it, and if you are mindful of this in advance you can prepare yourself to trust and to suurender to the process.
We recommend you work on your mindfulness. This can be done through practices like meditation and yoga or simply going for a walk by yourself in nature, leaving your phone at home.
Be grateful, you have been called by Ayahuasca to receive assistance on your life path. See how often you can smile each day.
Ayahuasca Dieta
The Ayahuasca nutritional diet is a very important aspect or your Ayahuasca preparation. The diet is designed for multiple physical and energetic reasons, but one obvious reason everyone can relate to is that the diet is preparing your digestive system for the purging that will take place during your ayahuasca ceremonies. We recommend you adjust your diet at least 2 weeks before your retreat begins:
Definitely no red meat (especially pork).
Definitely no alcohol of any kind.
Avoid highly salted and fried foods, diary, caffeine and refined sugars as much as possible.
Avoid fermented and spicy foods.
Eat Fresh or cooked vegetables.
Eat legumes, beans, and peas.
Eat rice, oats, and other non-refined cereals.
Eat Fresh fruit and juices.
Eat healthy fats like avocados, coconut oil, olive oil, and nuts.
Eat Fish and eggs.
Eat chicken (avoid fried) in moderation.
