Our Shipibo Feel
Jochipapanete was constructed in 2021 by workers from our Shipibo community. The center was finished with our Shipibo artists painting our buildings with our traditional art and patterns to give Jochipapanete a true Shipibo feel. We are proud to introduce our center to you.
Maloka
Our maloka is the building where most retreat activities occur. The maloka has a capacity of 14 participants per ceremony, and has a separate room for participants to have a break from the main ceremony room if required. The maloka is fitted with three water flush toilets, a tap and basin and is wired with lighting and power sockets. The maloka is also used for sharing circles and other retreat activities.
Tambos
We have accommodation options for both couples and singles. Our twin single tambos for single guests and our matrimonial tambos for couples. The single room tambos contain a single bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. The matrimonial tambos contain a double bed, two wardrobes and a desk and chair. All tambos are wired with internal lighting and a power socket to charge devices and have a 20L water station and laundry basket.
Kitchen
Our kitchen and dining hall is where our cooks work hard to prepare our Ayahuasca dieta meals. The dining hall accommodates all guests to eat together for their three meals per day while staying at the center. The dining hall acts as another undercover place for guests to congregate during free time to enjoy tea, fruit, and conversation.
Laundry
We have a free laundry service at Jochipapanete, each tambo has a washing basket which you can place your dirty laundry in, when you need your clothes washed simply take your laundry basket and leave inside the lavanderia and your basket will be returned to your tambo with folded clean clothes.
Showers
We have cold water showers. The ducha room is fitted with internal lighting, a shower, tap and basin, mirror and hanging rack. Our water system delivers good water pressure, which you will appreciate as a way to cool off during hot jungle days, either under our outdoor maloka shower deck or in the privacy of a ducha room.
Toilets
Our center has 3 water flush toilets in the maloka and 9 compost toilets around the center grounds.
Community House
Our community house is an undercover area with internal hammocks and lounges where guests can congregate and relax during free time periods of the retreat. The building is enclosed with only structural wood and mosquito netting to allow as much air flow as possible during warmer periods of the day. The community house is wired with lighting and power sockets to charge devices.
Facilitator House
Our facilitator house is where facilitators live while staying at Jochipapanete. Each facilitator has their own semi private room which contains a single bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. Each room is wired with internal lighting and a power socket to charge devices.
Brewing Hut
Our brewing hut is where our staff and maestros prepare all of Jochipapanete’s ayahuasca. Our ayahuasca is brewed onsite during retreats, so guests have the opportunity to see how the ayahuasca consumed in ceremony is made. Guests also have the opportunity to assist in certain aspects of the brewing process.
Water
Jochipapanete water is pumped from an aquifer 80m below our center. Our pump house takes one hour to fill the 2,600 liter tank on top of our water tower. Water is distributed from the water tower through a network of plastic plumbing to our entire center, supplying fresh spring water with strong water pressure. Drinking water is provided separately via 20L water stations in our tambos, dining room and maloka.
Solar Electricity
Our center is run 100% on solar electricity. All buildings in the center are wired with lighting (including all compost toilets), and our kitchen, maloka, tambos, facilitator house, laundry and community house are fitted with power sockets to run our appliances and charge your devices.
Internet
Our center has satellite internet to run our office. We encourage guests to enter retreat on a technology dieta; however, guests are welcome to use our internet to contact home if required.
Hot Springs
Our center is located near the thermal waters of Aguas Calientes. It is a protected natural area where two rivers meet - one volcanic, and one freshwater - creating thermal pools that we take guests to bathe in as part of our retreat program. These medicinal waters are healing for the body, mind and spirit, and the area is filled with natural beauty where macaws and other wildlife can be spotted.
Nature Trails
Our center is located in the middle of the Amazon jungle, with no neighbours, secluded far away from any city noise. There are a variety of healing master plants on the property, as well as a hiking trail that leads to the top of a small mountain. There is an abundance of natural spaces to be with on our property.
