A Shipibo-Owned Ayahuasca Healing Center
Jochipapanete is a Shipibo-owned Ayahuasca healing center located in the Peruvian Amazon. We offer our guests the opportunity to heal with traditional Shipibo plant medicines. Our retreats provide the medicine and environment for healing to unfold.
We expresses our gratitude to all human beings who have the courage to meet Ayahuasca as a vehicle of self-discovery and healing. Over-time the human world has become ever more complicated and competitive, which divides us and expands our sense of duality. Ayahuasca allows us to fall through this veil of separation and discover the truth of unity.

Our Retreats
Our 10-day Ayahuasca retreats are designed to give our guests the medicine, time and space to progress on their own unique healing and awakening journey. Although we offer a program of activities each day, our main goal is to serve the medicine in a safe and supportive environment to allow Ayahuasca the time and space to work with our guests. Our Maestros are also available during the retreat for private consultation to work with guests on specific issues.
Our Maestros
Our Shipibo Maestros & founders are Maestro Deodemero Matios Maynas and Maestra Rosenda Melendez Flores. They both come from a long line of healers in their family and have been working with Ayahuasca for over 20 years. With experience working in a variety of different well-renowned centers in Iquitos and Pucallpa, they are now working for themselves, together as a family.
Our Center
Our center is located in the middle of the Amazon Jungle, with no neighbours, secluded far away from any city noise near the town of Contamana, in Ucayali. There are a variety of healing master plants on the property, our center is also located near medicinal thermal waters, places where the sacred birds guacamoyos visit, and in close proximity to other sacred sites. All of which our guests can access as part of our retreat program.
Our Story
Jochipapanete was born from the vision and dedication of our Maestro, Deodomero (Deo), a respected Shipibo shaman from the Peruvian Amazon. Deo comes from a long lineage of Shipibo healers, apprenticing under his father, Xawan Mane, who passed down sacred plant medicine knowledge and the traditional ways of ayahuasca healing.
From a young age, Deo dreamed of creating a Shipibo-owned Ayahuasca Healing Center where people from around the world could come to receive authentic Shipibo healing directly from experienced maestros.
In 2021, with the support of his community and generous donations from friends and seekers worldwide, Deo’s lifelong dream became reality.
Today, Jochipapanete stands as a place of spiritual transformation, deep Amazonian wisdom, and cultural preservation. Every retreat and ayahuasca dieta not only offers powerful healing, but also directly supports our Shipibo community, family, and traditions — ensuring this ancient knowledge continues to thrive for future generations.
